We're a nation of coffee drinkers, but not many of us can make real coffee properly ourselves. So we depend on a cafe barista, or maybe that one guy at work who can use the espresso machine.
And that means millions of us are missing out! Because making real coffee yourself is part of the pleasure of drinking it. That's why at Harris we've started a COFFEE MAKING INTERVENTION. We want everyone to enjoy making great coffee themselves.
Making great coffee all starts with quality beans. That's why we've just launched the new Harris Speciality Series. Sustainably sourced, 100% high-grade Arabica beans, freshly batch-roasted in Sydney. Available in Woolworths nationwide so every Australian can make a better cup themselves. Choose between two specially crafted coffees:
A light roasted blend of Colombian, Brazilian and Kenyan Arabica beans. For those that love a floral and fruity coffee.
A dark roasted Single Origin from Guatemala. With notes of almond and chocolate this one is for those that love a rich coffee.
Only buy the beans you will use in a month. While beans last a long time, they gradually lose their flavour. Store in a dry dark container (you don't need to refrigerate or freeze). And grind fresh for each cup.
A simple hand grinder is a great start to grinding your own beans. As a general rule grind fine for espresso machines and stovetop pots, coarser for French Press and Filter. The best thing is to enjoy experimenting to find out what you like.
Different methods of making coffee have different brew times. Here's the most popular three you should know so you're always covered. Espresso: 30 seconds for 30mL shot, French Press: 4 minutes and Cold Brew: 12-24 hours.
